Lesson 1 - Happy New Year!

Today was a small group!  We did a few of the introductory tasks, but will review them again at our next lesson when we hopefully have the rest of the crew.  We started talks about our team name, we set some rules, and we read the story of Mini Mermaid.  We talked about the difference between negative destructive words and powerful positive words.  The girls gave examples from their lives about them acting like Mini Mermaid vs Siren (the negative influence).

And then, we began our workout.  The girls started with a warm-up lap, then we did our inch worms!

We stretched.

And, we did jumping jacks.

And then we ran!  The girls were asked to keep moving for 15 minutes.  They had the choice of running, walking, skipping...whatever they wanted, as long as they kept moving.  They all chose to jog and walk, and did great!  I can already tell these girls are motivated to run.

We always enjoy siblings who want to join us for our workout, too!

Once our 15 minutes was up, the girls wanted to run "just one more lap" to get to a mile and a half.
Very impressive.

After the run we paused for a quick group pic:

We demonstrated our power:

And we got a little silly:

After the workout and pictures, we spent a little time getting started on the journals.  The girls gave a short introduction to themselves, and wrote some of the powerful words that they know.  They drew and wrote about how they felt before their first run, and how they felt after.

It was a great way to start the new year, with these awesome girls.  Looking forward to getting going with the rest!
